Aromatherapy for Birth Workers

Last night I opted for a relaxing mineral soak instead of doing the dishes.
(Not a super hard decision 😉) after rushing to get dinner made and everyone fed before heading back out to meetings/practices, back home to get the kids to bed, put a load of laundry in.. I looked around and decided time for SELF-CARE was a must.

I’ll be leading a postpartum session next week and sharing tips for self-care and community-care which is of equal importance. How to create circles of support within the community is in fact self-care.

Often I get asked or maybe told is more appropriate. That they are struggling, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, how could a mineral or aromatherapy bath soak possibly help?

And it’s true a mineral or aromatherapy soak won’t solve everything but for someone feeling overwhelmed emptying the contents of a glass container into a bath and getting in doesn’t require a lot of thought or planning. Taking 5, 10, 15 minutes or more to sit in a warm bath is probably more doable than other options. It’s a place to start. Aromatherapy, aromatic experiences can reach the limbic system (part of the brain) within seconds, helping to create a parasympathetic response and allowing the mind/body to relax. Creating space, quiet and opportunity to process. Self-care indeed.

As a doula my whole business is modeled around a holistic approach for family-centre care and support, creating spaces for relaxation, connection and movement. As a doula instructor I approach it the same way, encouraging new doulas to nurture and grow their businesses in a professional and genuine way.

With the abundance of herbs and essential oils available in the marketplace as doulas we have new area to navigate with our clients. Although I have trained as aromatherapist, I know many doulas are being asked about safety on using these plant-based therapies during pregnancy and birth.

I have created an online workshop to chat about this, evidence based information, safety practices and ways to create pregnancy, birth and postpartum palettes for your clients.

Aromatherapy for Birth Workers is an introduction to aromatics that will provide ready-to-practice confidence and competence using this comfort measure for your clients during pregnancy, labour and post-birth.

Evidence based, safety conscious and focused.  This online webinar is accessible yet will get you thinking in a refreshing dynamic and practical way.  Information provided is non-branded and is focused on industry standards. best practice and of course scope of practice for birth workers.

Cost is $30
