Feel Fertile Smootie



1 banana
1 TBSP almond butter or handful soaked almonds
1 TBSP tahini
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup almond milk or full fat organic milk
1 cup of ice
1 tsp maca root powder to start (slowly build up tp 1 TBSP, see below)

Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy


Superfood: Maca Root Powder. the maca root is native to the high Andes in Peru where it is used medicinally and as an energizing food source. It has gained popularity in the wellness community over the past 20 years. Its distinct flavour has been described as an "acquired taste" and may take some time to appreciate. Maca is well known as a male sexual stimulant, but is also touted for its ability to increase fertility in women. Maca root contains 31 different minerals and 60 different phytonutrients. It nourishes the endocrine system and balances hormones without containing hormones itself. It especially helps regulate estrogen in the body which is key when trying to get pregnant. Maca Root can be quite powerful. It is important to start small and gradually increase your daily consumption. 

Fertility Smoothie Nutrition: Cinnamon helps ovarian function by improving insulin resistance. Almonds not only provide protein and zinc, they are also a great source of monounsaturated fat. Eating adequate amounts of good fat is very important while trying to conceive. Full fat milk is especially helpful in creasing fertility. Tahini is made from ground sesame seeds and fights inflammation with cooling unsaturated fat. The banana provides manganese, an important mineral for healthy reproductive function.
